	!!! LunchPhone is certified for credit-card payments… The LunchPhone system has been certified by Vital Processing Solutions. Vital acts as an independent testing facility for software applications wishing to become involved in credit card processing. Their certification process requires that a software application meet specific standards in order to participate in credit card authorizations and settlements. In practical terms, this certification allows LunchPhone to directly connect to the systems that control credit card use. In financial terms, the certification allows the LunchPhone to handle credit card payments directly with a payment processor. This avoids third-party brokers and other middlemen who add their fees and surcharges to the credit-card process. By working directly with the payment processors, the LunchPhone keeps the credit card fees at the lowest permissible rate. LunchPhone’s compatibility with point-of-sale systems… As kids go through the lunch line every day at school, their purchases and payments are recorded in the “cash register” at the end of the line. These cash registers are really computers with cash drawers, and they are connected together to form a network. Collectively, they are known as “point-of-sale” or POS systems. The LunchPhone uses the data collected by the POS systems to keep parents and Food Service directors informed about the financial health of the students. This means that no one at the school needs to enter data into the LunchPhone system, since the LunchPhone is updated daily from the school’s POS system. Think of a cake. While your POS system is the actual cake itself, the LunchPhone is the frosting on the cake. And the LunchPhone is capable of “frosting” many different types of cakes. There are many different types of point-of-sale systems available to schools, and the LunchPhone system has been designed to work with them. LunchPhone partners with Fifth Third Bank Processing Solutions… The LunchPhone system has partnered with Fifth Third Bank’s credit card processing division to offer schools a method of accepting credit cards when replenishing their lunch account balances through the LunchPhone. Why Fifth Third? They are a large and significant force in the credit card processing business. They are directly linked to Visa and MasterCard, allowing them to offer the lowest reasonable fees to schools for credit card processing. Fifth Third also has the resources and geographic scope to serve any school anywhere. Why a partnership? The partnership between LunchPhone and Fifth Third allows a district to get set up quickly and efficiently. All of the gritty details and behind-the-scenes technicalities have been worked out beforehand. This means a higher level of quality from the very beginning.
