Q: How do I use LunchPhone? Using the LunchPhone is simple… 1) Pick up
your phone and dial your school district’s LunchPhone number. 2) Enter
your child’s student ID number and confirm it. 3) Listen
to your menu options and make your choice. 4) Hang
up when you are done. During your one phone call, you may choose many
options (i.e., listen to the balance, and then request an Activity
Report). You may also switch to
another student during the call (i.e., listen to your daughter’s balance,
and then listen to your son’s balance). While your school district’s menu options may differ
slightly, the procedure remains the same: dial the LunchPhone number, enter
your student ID, and make your choice.
It is simple and it is FAST (dialing, entering a student ID,
and getting your balance takes 20-30 seconds). Also remember that ANY touch-tone phone will work
--- your corded or cordless phone, your phone at home or at work, your cell
phone. |

Q: What does the LunchPhone give me? In general terms, the LunchPhone gives you instant
access to information about your child’s lunch account. In specific terms, the LunchPhone gives you the
following options… 1) listen
to your child’s current lunch account balance; 2) listen
to the date and amount of your last payment; 3) listen
to the mailing address for sending in payments and questions; 4) add
money to your account by using your credit card (if your
school district allows it); and 5) request
a printed or faxed activity report showing all purchases and payments
for the last 7, 14 or 31 days. After entering your child’s student ID and confirming
it, you will hear the LunchPhone’s “Main Menu” for your school district. Your district may have the options in a
different order (they can be customized by the Food Service director). The first 3 options are “listen” categories ---
you will hear the information that you need.
These options are a quick-and-easy reference tool for monitoring your
account. The last 2 options are “active” categories --- you
can add money to your account and you can request a report. To add money to your account, you will
enter your credit card number, expiration date, and the amount you wish to
add. To request a report, you will
choose what period of time should be included on the report (7, 14 or 31
days). The report will be printed at
the school and sent to you. If your
district has their fax-back capabilities installed, the report will be
immediately faxed to you instead of being printed at the school. If you have many children in school, you may switch from
one child to another during the same phone call. The LunchPhone is designed for simple, easy use. You will be comfortable using it within
the first minute --- even when you are calling at 6:45am when trying to get
the kids off to school! |

Q: How much does it cost to use the LunchPhone? Under most circumstances, there is NO cost to use
the LunchPhone. If you are making a local call to your school’s
LunchPhone, there is no cost. If you are out-of-town visiting relatives during
Christmas break and you call the LunchPhone in your home town, you might
be charged for the long distance phone call (that is a telephone charge,
not a LunchPhone charge). If you have
a cell phone with no long-distance or roaming charges, use that phone and
there will be no charge at all. If your school district accepts credit-card payments
through the LunchPhone, there may or may not be a charge; it depends
upon the school district’s policy.
If your district has decided to absorb the fees associated with credit
card payments, then you will not be charged.
If the district has decided to charge a small credit-card convenience
fee, then you will hear the exact amount of the fee before you approve your
credit-card payment. |

Q: Does my school have LunchPhone? When your school district has the LunchPhone, you
will hear about it! The Food Service director and staff will notify
parents about the district’s new LunchPhone. You may receive a mailing about its use and features. There might be an article in the school
newspaper, a notice on the school’s website, or even a note in the local
paper. One way or another, you will know when your district
has its LunchPhone up and running. |

Q: My school does not have LunchPhone; what do I do? What happens if your school district does NOT have
the LunchPhone? You may wish to contact your school’s Food Service
director. Ask the director about the
LunchPhone and suggest a visit to our website. You may also wish to drop us an e-mail [Contact Us]. Give us the name and phone number of your
school’s Food Service director. We
will pass along some LunchPhone information. |
